e flite timer

Has anyone used the e flite timer? I was interested in using one on a fun sport plane not any type of compatition.Thanks

John, its pretty reliable for what it is, the only gripe I had is that you have to set the flight time each flight. Its been a year since I used it but as I recall you have to hold the start button down for a certain number of beeps to set the flight time. But for the price it does work.
Not my first choice though because it isnt very programable.

From my view if you have to reset the flight time every flight that's a non starter.  There are a number of very good timers available, spend a little more and get a good one.  Just my humble opinion. y1

Get Will Hubin's FM 9 setup with the prog box. It is probably the easiest most versatile timer to use!!

Hi, You can also have a look at my Governor timer as an alternative. It was designed with the sport flier in mind and works with a basic but simple programming card that you only need to use when you want to make some changes. What is very nice about it is that it monitors the rpm by connecting the extra wire to any one of the motor wires to keep the rpm constant. At the same time this feature will shut down the motor if the rpm drops below a preset level, so this prevents the motor and esc burning out if you jam the prop or prang the model.

I use one on a 1/2A trainer, and you may think that it's not necessary to use a governor on half-A models, but it certainly helps, and the shut down feature is an absolute bonus. The demand has been a bit much over the last few months, but I've just sent Eric at RSM distribution some more timers and in a few weeks time I will be in full production, so supply will be no problem. The pc boards use surface mounted components and I have taken the plunge and will now use full machine production. Here is the link to the RSM page:

John,
The Hubin FM-9 is the way to go. I have the programming box so you don't need to get one if you want to save the $.
Once you figure out the rpm and flight time you want, you do not need the programmer.
