I've got an AXI 2820/08 (1500kv), I originally bought it for my flightstreak several years ago and it was a really good match for the 3s A123 packs I was using at the time. It only lasted about 4 minutes but boy did it party.
Any thoughts on a good starting point up for a lipo set up for this motor? It seems too good a motor to leave lying in the draw. I have been playing around with it in my Gotchastreak using one of the original APC 11*5 pushers which was found to be nearer 11*3.5 and running it at around 11,800rpm. It pulls like a train but it's a really thirsty beast taking 80% out of a 4ah 3s lipo in 4:30. By comparison my old Scorpion 3014/16 (1187kv) runs through the pattern in 5:25 and only uses approx 70% (In the same model). I've tried running it slower with more pitch but the governor seems a bit vague under those circumstances.
As I said I would like to use this motor and short of buying some more A123 pack does anyone have any thoughts on what might be a good way of improving efficiency? Should I drop to 2 cells and try running it in the 8,500 area or stick with 3 cells and possibly up the pitch but reduce the diameter? Or should I just put it back in the draw.
Thanks in advance
