Title: Carbon Prop Test Flights
Post by: Tim Stagg on April 16, 2012, 07:25:27 AM
Jose,

Flew about 5 flights this weekend. I had to adjust the RPM's up about 900
to get the same lap times. The prop sounds nice, looks nice, and is very
smooth. I have the battery capacity to handle the jump, but I may have
re-pitch to it slightly. It seems to lag a bit in the second turn over top
on the hourglass. Everywhere else it is great.

Not sure it is the wonder prop I was looking for, but I will keep tweaking
on it.

Tim

900 rpms is a lot of change! Were you running 6 inch pitch before or low pit electric props? If you were at low pitch and had to add 900 rpm that seems to me to be a distinct disadvantage. I have tried glow carbon props with similar results to what you got power wise. I did not want to have to carry the additional battery to explore it much further. Please post what you find after what you have worked with it more.

If you had to go up 900 revs, sounds to me like something isn't working too well.  Can you provide the prop and motor details?  It's hard to make comments without knowing what you are trying to achieve.

Tim thanks for info. I had to increase by 500rpm on my test with same prop. It was not the magic prop that I was looking for.
I will use on a new model let's compare notes.

Jose, I sent you an email that bounced and then I contacted you by Stunthanger, did you receive it?
It's about the availability of the Yatsenko pusher props for sale.  ;D

PS: I haven't found a carbon prop that works better than the original THIN APC 13x4.5, I'm still hoping.
I had to boost revs by 1000rpm and then used way too much battery!!  :(

Props available direct from the Yatsenkos.
no US dealer.
I like the thin original props the best, down to 5. The thick hub 5.5 are ok but thin works better on my models
the Yatsenkos worked real good on my E sharks but i like lower pitch that flex.

As far a props go I have yet to find a prop that works better than the APC 12x6.5WEP from Dennis Adamisin.  Its a really good electric prop.
