Boxcar Chief Inflight Video (From the model)
« on: March 21, 2012, 06:37:10 PM »
Just posting this here because Dennis asked about it in a thread on the main forum and as that one was about photos and not videos I did not want to hijack the other post.

Can't get the "youtube" tags to work  ??? so here's the direct link.

Taken with one of those cheap keychain "Spy" cameras mounted on the top of the wing. This particular camera is an older version (#8). The latest ones (#16) are a lot better and still quite cheap at around $30. They are very lightweight (16 grams once you remove the key chain).

Anyway, That's it.

GREAT VIDS - that vantage point of the cmaera looking at the pilot, with the background spinning around is very disorienting - but very effetctive.  The near-bird strike was an interesting aside too.

Watched both vids but it seems you are a little hard on both the BC Chief and the Camera!

Well, both the Camera and the Boxcar Chief are fine if kept apart. But for some reason both times I have mounted the camera on it I have ended up stuffing it into the ground. The camera has done duty on most of my other planes and I take everything home in one piece but stick it on the BC chief and a crash is imminent.  ??? It does prove how robust those things are though. I'm probably going to get one of the newer versions soon, apparently they are a significant improvement over the version I have.

Hi Chuck,
There have been reports of people selling fake models of the latest version so whatever you decide to do as usual "Buyer Beware" but having said that Ebay seller eletoponline365 is known to be selling the real deal.

Or just search for 808 #16 on Ebay.

More than you could ever wish to know can be found Here
