Electric Stunt => Gettin all AMP'ed up! => Topic started by: Bill Little on September 02, 2013, 12:59:23 PM

Hi All,
I need some information! Aaron and I have exactly one electric stunter in our possession. We set everything up and then then tested it on the ground with a 90 sec. or two minute run. I did not recharge the lipo battery when we were done. I have since head that you do not want to put up the battery in a condition like that. What are the chances that I have done irreversible damage to the battery?
Thanks!
Bill

LiPos are picky, but they're not that picky.
Ideally you want to store them at half charge, but the difference is between lasting a season vs. lasting several years. Forgetting once isn't going to mess you up.

How long ago was this? If it was a long time ago, yes you did harm to the battery. How much? Probably not much especially seeing you are a sport flyer when it comes to electric. I'd just take it down to storage voltage 3.8v per cell and not worry about it.

I would say it is in good condition for storing. Most important is not to store it fully charged or fully discharged.
But you should know that running motors on ground is not good idea, prop in static air is loaded much more then in air and governor will feed the motor much more, you can overheat motor or battery.

Thanks, guys! I will discharge it to storage voltage and feel much better about it.
Igor, We didn't want to run it long. I think it was only 2 minutes, or less. It was just so we could test the whole set up and make sure it was working.
Thanks, again!
