I have seen a few images of battery bunkers.
I store my batteries in a lipo bag inside a old metel tool box with a tile in the bottom.
How do you store yours?

I also use the ammo case. I get them at the Army/Navy store, cheap about $8 for the small one and $12 ish for the large one. I put vertical separators down the length to store the packs vertically. I put a small piece of red tap on one end and green tap on the other. The charged packs have the green side up, once used I put them in with the red side up. This save lots of trouble keeping track of charged packs at a contest when things get going (always at the contest when things go nuts, always), cheap insurance.
In the small case I get six packs (battery's) 4S 3950 size and smaller, twelve in the big one (double row).

Dollar for dollar a ammo can is a better deal all the way around than a cinder block. Unless you like large heavy objects.

I am concerned about containing potential blast from expanding gases. I use a concrete block (not cinder) for storage ... transport in my tool bag with individual pockets for each battery.

Come ON! Are LiPos really going to explode like a stick of dynamite? I have heard of bad fires but explosions? I think a 50 cal amo can will keep you safe.

The batteries aren't going to explode. Expanding gases pressurize the container. Similar to the improvised explosive devices made from pressure cookers. Relatively low yield explosive compounds are used and the container creates the blast when over pressured.

I have a drill bit about 1/128th. Would it jeopardize the integrity of the can if I put a small vent hole for said gases?

I could be wrong but I would bet that an amo can lid would flex under internal presser and allow the gas to escape. Any way, it seems to be the storage container of choice and I haven't read of anybody clamming that an amo can didn't do it's job.

Considering ammo boxes are designed to be stacked on top of each other, and should one go off the others won't be compromised, I would suggest that the millitary know more than we do about keeping lethal explosives under control.
Mine are Australian Army issue 7.62mm cartridge boxes. I'd wager that you'd be lucky to blow one up, with anything short of C4.

I brought my modeling equipment back from VN and Thailand in an ammo box. When I opened it a year later it still went whssssh from the air pressure. Forty years later it's still air tight. Good quality to say the least.
Lipos present a problem for Yankees if you can't leave 'em out freeze and don't dare bring 'em in the house. Maybe you need to build a little insulated, heated lipo house clear of your valubles.
Or maybe have the club go in on a cell at a heated Public Storage unit.
