Baby Clown on 60' Line
« on: August 17, 2010, 04:34:52 PM »
I'll preface this by saying I fly control line "style" but use a pylon and control the plane entirely by RC.

I always like to stretch the envelope so I decided to up-power my electric Baby Clown to see if I could get it to fly on a 60' line. I usually fly it on a 40' line

Lo and behold it did. Power was a 2217-7 BPHobbies motor with 8x6 APC prop and a 3S 1000 mah LiPo.
I got lap times of 5 sec and a flight time of 3.5 min which was limited by battery capacity. The motor was running at 9,000 rpm and drew about 17A.
It had plenty of power for wingovers, 8s and overhead 8's.  :)
