Another win for Electric!
« on: May 08, 2011, 05:24:46 PM »
The Mid-iowa Controliners had their Spring kick-Off contest this weekend.  I only flew on Sunday and placed first in Expert!  Turnout was light due to Mother's Day and graduations.

I flew the Protroma in some breezy conditions.

I'm still making adjustments to the airplane but I am getting closer.

way to go Crist !  Seems like you are fine tuning that bird.

Keep it up.   Did you get your batteries yet !

The contest is usually held on the 1st weekend in May.  It was one of those rare times when it actually falls on Mothers day.

Thanks

I made a few changes that should help get the plane dialed in to what I'm looking for when I got home today.  The next few weeks will see the experimenting of different settings and settle down to the right set up.

Good job Crist.
It took me a while but now I know why you liked Sultan-e #3.  The red white and blue one.
How is the JB welded front mount holding up?

Thanks Norm.

I just checked the front end when I got home Sunday and it is still very solid.  The plane has about 30 flights on it so far.

Good going, Crist! I'm curious about how you came up with "Protroma" and what it means, if anything. I Googled it and then tried Dictionary.com, with no results to speak of.  I was just kinda expecting something more like the "Peanutburger Samwich".

Got "the call" yesterday and went and watched Mike Haverly's new "KISS es" put in 4 flights...first full 5:20 runs, after some 4 minute battery break-in flights.  I'd suggested "Carmen Electron" for a name...Mieko probably put the nix on that. But it looks to fly quite well, and Mike keeps saying that he has no ideas about how to improve the trim, except next time out, he'll narrow the handle spacing.  It's a bit too quiet...  :## Steve

For my money the absolute best name for an electric plane was thought up by Kris Steinek of our club --
