Latest park flyer, Hanger 9 PT-19.
« on: December 09, 2011, 12:17:19 PM »
Ever have a bunch of stuff you had no plans for?  Well I did.  Also I have a column to write every month for the club newsletter, so I put spare stuff and column together and PT-19 electric was born.  The power system is way over the top for this plane but you can always turn the wick down and that's exactly what I did.  The motor is  a Turnigy 4250-1000 a 70amp Turnigy ESC a KR timer with a 2500mha Hobby People battery.  The prop is an APC 13 x 5.5 I got from Dennis Adamisin.  I run the motor at 8200 RPM and it does the pattern with ease.  I am running the motor at about 65% of max power it is just loafing along.

I took it out this morning and with my wife's help put the second flight on it taking it through the pattern.  Its never going to win any contests but it is fun to fly and the only thing I had to buy was the battery.

Hi Andy,

Nice looking conversion!  BTW: Where do you put the battery?

Thanks

HA! I have the same bird with smaller pieces so I use a 10x5 prop.  You have 69% MORE prop disc area - hope that's enough!   n~

All seriousness aside, looks like another great conversion - and quiet enough to fly in the closest park or schoolyard.  No engine smoke or noise to distrub the spousal unit either.  Looks like a solid home run to me...

Bill the battery goes over the white pad underneath the motor.  I took the picture when I got home from flying it and took out the battery.  Dennis, like I said the power system is WAY overkill.  But the price was right and it flys great.  Its nice to go to the park with the wife and get some flying in.  Don't you just love this hobby.

Thanks, Andy!   Looks like Aaron will get to fly "OUR" electric set up soon.  We tested everything a couple weeks ago and all looks good.
