I have done a little research and wonder if this setup will be suitable for my Nobler
4 Cell A123 battery pack, 3.3 V x 4 cells = 13.2 V 2300 mah
Hyperion 3020 08 motor
ESC and timer
possibly a 10x6 prop to start
Expect to get all up under 50 ounces
biggest worry is whether the 4 cell pack is up to it ???
I have flown Noblers at 50 ounces with Enya 40 and quite happy
any less of course will be a bonus as at the moment the bare
airframe weighs 26 ounces, my lightest ever

Vincent,
My guess is that it may be marginal.
Here's why.
I fly a 44oz Nobler with a 12-6 prop (8000 rpm) using a 4s2100mAHr Lipo pack. Typically I use less than 1600mAHr out of the pack. Since my average watts during the flight (320 s) is ~290-300 watts. This means the total energy I use (Volts*amps*time) is 96000 watt-seconds (joules) (or 27watt-hrs).
Your battery has less average voltage (I think) than my lipo which had an average output voltage of 14.4V during the flight. So that means you will be pulling more amps to make the 300 watts (=output volts*amps). So the question is whether your pack has enough capacity to do that. The A123 cell can be drawn down lower than the lipo, so maybe it will work, but it is one of those questions that almost can't be answered until you try.

would 5 cells at 3.3 V be Ok ?
-
6 cells is ok for 60-65oz stunter with APCE12x6 and 5 minutes flight time

If 4 cells are marginal (=maybe!), then I guess 5 cells should be ok. Along with Igor's 6 cell statement, it looks like it would work for a ~50oz setup. You need to find the room for all those cells though!

hey! ... nice table:
1 123 for 10oz
2 123 for 20oz
3 123 for 30oz
4 123 for 40oz
5 123 for 50oz
6 123 for 60oz
7 123 for 70oz

Hmmm, for case 1, isn't that just a flying A123 cell? LL~

Many thanks Igor and Alan
I will order 5 cell packs and post results later
will take me a few weeks to get these and then
at the mercy of the weather for test flying
