I am really out of my league here in helping you answer your questions but it sounds to me that your Baby Flite Streak is overweight to start off with. Not to heavy to fly but I think too heavy to fly really well.

What engine and covering do you have?

In my limited lekkie understanding, the plane needs a number of things.
1. light weight. Light weight means light wing loading and therefore slower flying speeds are attainable.
 
2. Slower speed. you need slower speed in order to get the most out of the shorter line length otherwise you won't have the least bit of fun flying it and it could be dangerous as well.

3. Larger diameter prop. You will need this to provide the adequate thrust at slower prop speeds.

4. longer legs for prop clearance.

If I am wrong about any of this, please correct me as I have a lot to learn myself. The above comments were based on life as I perceive it to now.

I flew this in a 20mph wind , it was quite good, but I only risked one loop

AP 061 glow engine , film covering, built from Brodak kit

I cant now make this any lighter, but will assess the whole idea properly

after the weather clears enough to measure the available ceiling in the

sports hall that I have in mind to fly in, then armed with line length I

should be able to put a setup together.

This set-up should get you what you need.  You may consider lightening up the airframe to save additional weight, but these components are very light to start with.  The large prop diameter offers good thrust to weight even @ 9 ozs.

Please keep us updated how it works for you.  I have the equivalent Hextronik 24gram motor in 1300Kv and it is a very good motor, but needs 3S to get any power out of it.

  I'm flying an electric converted Sig Stagger Wing Beachcraft 1/2 on the following setup:

Motor: Blue Wonder Monster 2712-1700 KV
Speed Controller: 10 Amp
Timer: Eflite
Battery: Rhino 460 3 cell
Prop: Speed 400 6x4
total Weight:  7 oz.

Flight time on 35FT line 3 min. Next fly I will try a 4 min flight.

Archie I got the 1/2a conversion that you suggested,  2211-1700 Turnegy,  Rhino 2s 750 7.4 v 20c, Turnigy speed controller, Will Hubin timer, 
It seams that I can't get enough thrust to row on the ground,should I go to a bigger prop. or 3s battery plane weighs 11.3 oz
