Title: 12" Wingspan Nobler
Post by: Jeffrey Olijar on August 04, 2010, 08:00:33 PM
I built a mini Nobler (its a 1/2 Scale Half A Nobler by Dick Sarpolus)
It weighs in at 30 grams and flies on 15' lines.

I built another one that is much lighter and will post a video as soon as I get a chance to fly it.

What is your power system?  Or is it posted on the My setup section?

Battery
Turnigy 160mAh 1S 30C (E-flite, Minium compatible)

I am using a ztron v3 timer set to 1min 10 seconds
I can get 3 flights on each battery and it brings it to roughly 20-30% charge

Flew Mini Nobler #2 (#1 was too heavy)
It flies okay but I need more weight on the nose and wingtip.

Great video! I enjoyed both flight videos. I fly on a 20' tethered line and control both motor and elevator by RC. I timed your laps at about 3 sec from the video and it would be way too fast for me.    :)

Any longer and you loose line tension.  I'm still working on it though.

You might do better with less engine offset.

Just flew it again.  It flies much better with the nose and tip weight.  I can do loops and wing overs just fine.  It has some difficulty with figure eights and inverted flight.  I am going to add flaps and see where that takes me.  My micro shoestrings had almost no engine offset and line tension was a major issue.  I may experiment later but I think the offset is okay where it is for now.
