"E" T Rex
« on: May 05, 2010, 05:57:13 PM »
Here are a few pictures of my finished E T-Rex. I want to thank Ron Heckler for all the help he gave me with the finish on this plane. Like the SV 11 this too is covered in Black Baron Film. There has been enough written on these plane already, so I will just post the setup over in the List your setup section.

Six flights so far. Really flys well. Mostly playing with tip weight and trim tabs at the moment. Nothing seriously out of wack just want to make some minor adjustments.

Hi Will. Looks really good. I've had one of these in my sights for a month or two and haven't got off the dime. Too busy playing with other projects. Be carefull, it looks like there is a ROUS (Reptile Of Unusual Size) closing in on your six....

Looks great!  I'm sure you will have as much fun with yours as my brother Ron, Walter Hicks and I are having with ours.

Best wishes and good safe flying.

That really looks good Will.  The Rex on the fin is a nice touch too!

I wonder if the E-Rex on the tail likes a nice M-L-T sandwich ...

Do you know how much do those magnets on the cowl weigh ?
Do you think they would work on a glow powered model ?

I use magnets to hold my cowls.  I have to be careful as I can break apart the cowl trying to pull it off the fuse.
The cowl will also avoid moving side to side.  The little magnets are VERY powerful and weigh very little.
I'm using 1/4" x 1/8", one magnet in the cowl and one in the fuse on one plane and two in the cowl and two
in the fuse on the other.  I have a small dowel in the front spinner ring.  The cowl is not coming off during flight.
Nitro planes would work the same.
Mine came from  www.kjmagnetics.com

Can't be more than a few grams. They are about half the size of dimes. If installed right i don't see why they wouldn't hold on a gas model. I think I overkilled this a little anyway. 3 -4 would be sufficient on mine. There are many sources. Mine came from Michael's Craft Stores. I overpaid as there are many online vendors that sell them for less. RobertC suggested a good source above.
