Im looking at using a Saito FA-50 for a control line engine. What prop size do you think would work the best for this engine?

Good morning
I used SAITO FA-50 from '92 to '96
Propeller: 13x6 Merati made in Italy with thinned blades
Venturi: self built 6.9 mm diameter with Supertigre spraibar (4 mm.)
Fuel: 70% methanol-20% oil (All synthetic) -10% nitro
Plug: OS "F"
RPM 8000-8200
With this setup, the engine pulled a heavy 1900g (67 oz.) Model without any problems.
I am currently reading on this forum that many people use 20% of nitro, if I still use the 4T I would undoubtedly try this option.
I hope that this helps, Massimo

Thats a very good place for me to start. I really appreciate it. My problem is i think a 13" prop my hit the ground during takeoff. I might need to stick with a 12" prop...

If the diameter is a problem you can use a three-blade propeller ......

Massimo's suggestions are correct. I've used both 13-6 and 12-6 on my SAITO 50 with excellent results.
Don't hesitate to try a higher pitch. I've used as high as 8 but of course, it depends on the aircraft.
I've never used a three-blade propeller but I know some people who tried them and liked the performance.
The SAITO 50 is a very good engine and close in performance to the 56.
I never made a venturi for mine - I just adjusted the throttle between 90 and 100% until I got what I wanted.
