Long tube exhaust for FS?

Since four strokes has less sensitive to backpressure has anyone tried using a long tube exhaust to direct the exhaust out the back of the ship (thinking very thin walled Aluminum with no other muffler), kinda like a tuned pipe but lighter?

Yep, I did it many years ago.
I used it on "The Plane" powered by a Surpass 40.
I ran the pipe inside the wing and out the wing tip.
No noticeable change in performance but definitely louder. Kind of like a megaphone, I guess.
