Title: Initial spool up question
Post by: Randy Powell on September 09, 2015, 05:33:24 PM
The default setting on my Phoenix Lite 75A for initial spool up rate was low (2). I tried it and it takes awhile to run up to rpm. Is it better to have it set to the high spool up rate (8). What is the up and down side?

if the nose on yoru airplane is fragile,, it  could rip it off with torque spool up,,
it also puts a higher amp load on the esc on fast,,
I run mine on one step below hi as i recall

I take about 3 to 4 secs to get up to full RPM.  Why risk a quick start and the extra wear on the system.

I use Jeti Spin and it has setting directly in seconds, I found 3 to 4 seconds to be most confortable, especially on grass, I can react and I feel much safer on starts than with shorter times and far far better then when someone releases model at full power.
