how do you save the file as a JPG?

Print it out on my printer, then scan it.  A bit of work.

A handy tool to have is pdfcreator. 

http://www.pdfforge.org/pdfcreator (http://www.pdfforge.org/pdfcreator)

It's a free utility and once installed you will have a new printer named "PDFCreator".  When you go to print your document just select this printer and instead of printing to a physical printer,  you will be prompted to save the document as a pdf.
