Hunfortunately , I fink the 50 pixies devour one page .
at Zero or bellow , the Epoxy takes twenty four hours to ' kick off ' so we need ' means ' . This aint that , and the nose former canted a tad.
So we dont actually recomend it , but 40 minutes beats 1440 . If your patiance has evaporated .
-
That was a heavy frost . ;)
-
RIGHT , where were we . ;D
-
sheeting / planking the upper forward .
-
you can see the Bearers go aft to the wing spar .
-
moore
in the cold the coffe gets cool before youve half finished it . :-\
-
Didnt getta picture of the three wing pieces . Outers and center section , which is Flat , the Outers run abouta inch of Diheadral .
You can see how the outer spar ( Obeche 1/4 x 1/8 0 drops down in front of the straight thru center ( spruce 1/4 Sq. ) one .
-
Theres a few technical ( injuneering ) things I will relate later .
-
so

As the obnoxious young upstarts in our Torbay Club were so fond of saying ,
besides ' whats the price of gold in China got to do with the Peking Fish Market '.
" You dont have to be mad to be a Aeromodellor. But it helps "
a few clues to other perscriptions .
-
The things 1 1/8 times the 57 in ' Typical .46 ' one I did . This gives 125 % the Area, About 800 Sq. in here .
The Stalker 76 ( or 66 ) is Fitted . as it fitted .
The 57 in one had ' Canards ' The Exhaust Stacks were about 3/4 wide x 3 long , Ea Side of the nose .
Initially had a ' nose down left ' trim . Glareing along from Fwd. noted that one side was angled off C/L .
Fitting it straight got the trim level and neutral .
Idea was to see , if like a Kfir C2 , they were a " Lift Improving " device .
As the lateral trim is descerable if theyre angled , thyre definately ' aerodynamic'; up there . Which is a good start .
Other deviation from knomal is the Center Section SET UP .
The Trailing Edge and FLAPS are one line , Center to Tip .
Whereas;
The Center Section SPARS and LEADING EDGE are FLAT ( though Ive got a 1 m.m. drop to break on top surface ,so as it dosnt APPEAR sagged .)
Therefore Fwd of the Spars Symetrical with about 6 mm drop on the centerline of the T.E. GIVING a Assymetric Airfoil inboard .
The benifit of this Appears to be The Flaps are More Efficent at low movement INVERTED due to the deflection being IN LINE with
the Shallower Slope on the underside sheeting of the centersection , I presume .
As it Floats Through the downhill to intersection , inverted from the upper loop of the Vertical eight ;
giving you all the time in the world to ' hit the cut ' on the reversal to the top of the Inside .
Thats my theroy , in Hindsight .
Though theres a touch of wash out ( 2 mm ) Ea. Tip : which is ' Wash In ' INVERTED ! . n1 you can detect this with the
' rolly feel ' ( balance point / instant resonce ) inverted .
This came about as Id forced the Sheet Fwd. and Aft. on the center ribs to make a STRIGHT LINE after Id Secured the T E to the outer Ribs .
Think about it , theres a shift in the l.e. of the T.E. at the Diheadral Break . It shifts the T.E. Sheet Top aft a few m.m.
and the undersheet back a few mil.
Forcing thinto line sets the tips up about 2 m.m. at the trailing edge .
As it was Even / Symetrical ( side to side ) I thought it Easier to leave well alone and ' see what happens ' .
THIS ONE will get 1 m.m. Wash Out and carefully Trimmed & Cut Trailing Edge Sheets in there !
Back to The Grindsrtone . It still unused in its boox on the shelf .

So we dont actually recomend it , but 40 minutes beats 1440 . If your patiance has evaporated .
Get it clamped up in your cold, cold shop, then put it someplace warm to set. My office is next door to my shop, and it's the only heated space in the building. So in the winter* I get things clamped in the shop, then bring them in here for the epoxy to set.
* What passes for winter in the Willamette Valley in Oregon. Minnesotans wouldn't even laugh because they wouldn't understand that five inches of snow here is a Horrible Storm.

Hi Matt:
I sent you a letter this morning.
Great work on the Hurri!
Good God man! Where do you live? What language do you speak? Lol
Be well my friend,
Frank McCune
-
Matt,
That's actually a great aircraft your modeling, a good choice. H^^
There's plenty of schemes, and a red aircraft if you do a search.
Good luck!

was supposed to go back to Russkie Land , after the poms do it up . But as theyre no longer holding hands ??
Was the Worlds Only Stirling to theyd lined up to go back to olde blighty . If they put all the polititians in a Orchestra ,
we'd find out if theyre capeable of anything inteligent . If they gave them all I.Q. Tests , theyd probably FAIL .
o.k.

Be this if any other , Battle of France they ( the R.A.F.) wasted 1200 kraut aircraft , so not quite the walkover some portray .

The Wing T.E. 1/2 done , with the hinge blocks clamped .
-
Fully sheeted T.E. now , Did a Big Panic last night as sticks across viewed allong wernt parrallel .
Out with a carton of matchboxes , sticks , planks , mugs & coffe jars ! Shocked
Packed equal equidistant out and aligned on the glass sheet , so the PVA dries with it IN ALIGNMENT .
A stack of equal sized wotsits put equal distances from centreline , or a bit inequal if you allow for the longer inner wing
and it should be equally straight or otherwise .

Following very close behind (a tie?) the Spitfire as my all time favourite aircraft, the Hurricane!! I am watching this with a lot of interest and waite patiently for each new picture update. Keep up the great work Matt. H^^
-
found this , though the new ones chubbier in the Fuse , hold ups with getting a few other things done .
Once I get some decent dope , its back underway again .

-
Matt,
If you're looking for dope... Phoenix Lacquers at Bankstown have both tautening & non tautening.
http://www.phoenixlacquersandpaints.com.au/
Good product, reasonably priced.
-
Gotta Gallon thanks . Got the Nitro Cellulose , as its Nitrate with fancy additives . :) Furniture Lacquer . :P ^-^
Theser from a week back . The assys ( Horiz. stab ) is done now , but I forgot to pictureise it . Will tryn remember to get a few shots with it thrown together , ive trimmed the wing cut outs out . Still to do the Vert. Stab. Need to do a plug to mould the LE . Then theres the U.Carrage . AND Im inclined to set it up for the G-51 as its about the right size and weight for how ive run em , rather than the Stalker 66 . Or maybe BOTH , H^^
theyre Big Cups . LL~ S?P its about 21 in. span & 20 or 23 % area . One or the other , probably the other . ;D
-
Elevator L.E. is 1/2 Sq. set diamond style . Probably better to reduce out to match taper , Just catches the depth at first bay. the spars tapered a little. 1 mm per bay .
-
weighs 23 1/2 Oz. as shown . Should perforate the bearers to loose that 1/2 Oz .
-
Will get 2 mm , the dreaded .077 sheet . 5/64 th in real money , L.E. & center section sheeting .
trialed bent wire & mounts for retracts , looks like it'll fall in . So may give it a go .
1/4 rod with R & L H threads , a spool & two rubber bands , with a few catches to actuate would do it .
We shall see .
its the same as the silver sucker about 1/6th bigger With fuse 1/4 wider times 7/6 ish .
Must find some Carbon monofillament for the ' stringers ' under the tissue .
Carbon Veil would toughen up the center section , too .
-
Nuffin Done on it Lately . But thought I had a R.C. car ' Tie Rod ' to retract / lower undercarrage .

in fact worked out how to work it out . :-\
The tie Rods are set up rather ' bound ' so no free rotation . So this requires a RETHINK . As it'll only be used to LOWER the gear ,
we'll let you contemplate on that there for now .
Just Tripped Over THIS : Battle of France / Early Camo/ marking specs . Thought it'd be as good a place to post em as any .

Did HRH actually fly it herself?
-
Hi Matt, Great looking Hawker Hurricane, do you have a picture of the finished model? Thanks, Michael Boucher
-
Finished ! Finished ?
Um.
Got about five airframes ' framed up ' ,
Finished the TYPHOON last weekend , Er . . .
$ Coats friday 9 several more in places ) in semi arctic conditions . . . a week lare its taughtened off .
However will ryb back . its just in silver and clear , as the excess Oz are aft , tho C G is only 3/8 aft of where Im Aiming , with that short nose .
Contemplating a lighter empenage wwith Al Rabe inspired lightness , rather than my Spuce & Stick struckture .
Likely Blue Tissue then , for the Hurricane .

Robert Tuck's restored Hurricane is currently on display at the Pima Air Museum just outside of Tucson, Arizona.
