Title: Which OS is my Thunder Tiger .25 a copy of?
Post by: RknRusty on August 09, 2013, 10:00:23 PM
I have read that the TT .25 Pro ball bearing engine is a Taiwanese knockoff of an OS engine. Can anyone tell me which OS that would be?
I'm asking just for the sake of reading about how people set up and run their .25. I was told by the person I bought it from that mine has a Supertigre C/L NV assembly. The venturi is a sprinkler type with three holes around the perimeter with the spraybar beside it. Just about like a Tee Dee has. As best as I can tell with my too-large caliper, it looks like the venturi is about .172+ inches wide.
Thanks,
Rusty

EDIT: I finally turned up something in a search at SSW. Maybe the answer is an OS fp? Except that's a plain bearing. I don't know if that changes much about things like prop selection. Looks like most people like low pitched props, 9x4 and 10x3. So I'm close, I've been trying 9x5 and 10x4 props on my 31 ounce plane. Still a little too fast. I now have a 10x3 APC mounted(Brett's suggestion) and a MA 9x4 in the box for my next try.

OS made a 25 FSR , one piece case dual ball bearing, that was most likely the one you are asking about. I have several of them here.

That sounds like the one. Thanks, Randy.
