I have several T&L .35Ss but have never dissected them. From conversations with Tom and those that knew him, Tom just mostly hand fitted engines for minimum clearances and best fits, a time consuming process. He had a technique for heat treating pistons to make them last longer and in that process he was able to make the cylinders and pistons truly round for best fit. I think he bushed the rods and hardened those also. I don't think he changed any timing, as there was no need to. This is much the same with the work he did on Super Tiger engines. Mix and match parts for best fit, true cylinders and hardened rings. Make sure all bearings are the best and fit well. Tom's engines ran well, make great power and last a long time if cared for and fed a proper diet. Two of mine may end up in a Sheeks Mosquito.
