Title: What size, how many holes for LA .46 tongue mm muffler?
Post by: frank mccune on October 09, 2020, 03:24:17 PM
     Hello:

A friend of mine made a tongue muffler for my OS LA .46 engine.  He drilled five 7/64” holes in the end.  Today he suggested that I enlarge the hole as it was running very quietly. How large may I enlarge the holes before the muffler becomes “too loud.”  I just want it to Be quiet enough not to disturb the RC flyers at our flying field. Lol.

If the engine isn't overheating and sagging in the maneuvers then leave it alone. Also monitor your fuel conservation. The more you open the muffler, your fuel mileage could decrease. Typically tongue mufflers do little to nothing to muffle noise. If it's working , then why test your r/c flyers patience in getting them pissed off for making too much noise?
