::) What's the problem/draw back with using a RC OS engine  that you already have instead of buying a CL version?
Thanks, Terry

Hi Terry,

The OS LA, FP, "35 S",etc., are the same except for the carb/venturi.  A lot of people just wire the carb open and use the R/C engine.  Tming wasn't changed for either one.

Hi Terry

The CL and  RC versions are  NOT all the  same, some of the CL versions have 2 port sleeves and some of the RC version do not.
Also you will want to put the NVA in the front and at least you will get a  venturie you can use buying a CL version over a  RC version.
I NEVER liked the way they run wired open, unless they were run in a 2 cycle mode, that being said If you care to you can you can  covert your  engine over to a CL version

Regards
Randy

Sorry, Randy, I was not aware of that (2 port vis a vis 3 port)!  Is this with all the OS engines??  The 35 S, FPS and LAs I have had apart did not exhibit this, maybe I was just "lucky" ( ??? )

Thanks

Terry you need to tell us which OS engines you are asking about.

Sorry, I have only seen the os-la versions. That is also what our local hobby shop stocks. So I that is what I would most likely use.
Thank you all!

Hi Terry

The OS  LA s  are the ones  that come in 2 and  3 port versions, So if you buy a motor, I would suggest buying the Cl Version To Start with

Hi Randy, from what I can see on the OS Max website and looking at some of my engines, the piston and sleeve part numbers are the same for either the C/L or RC versions of both the LA .40 and .46.

Here are the website pages for the LA .46 in both versions

C/L version  http://www.gpmd.com/cgi-bin/wgpprt100p?&I=OSMG1446

RC Version  http://www.gpmd.com/cgi-bin/wgpprt100p?&I=OSMG0046

I understand that the earlier versions of these engines were coming through with both configurations but they have settled on the two port sleeves.

So if it's a new engine either should be OK. If it's an ebay special... all bets are off.

Hi Dick

Maybe so maybe no.   I have  2  "new"  OS 40 LAs here Rc versions that have  3 port sleeves
Depends on when and were they where bought I would imagine. OS  runs  1000s of these at one  time, and you can possibly get an engine that has parts that were ran several years  ago.
I have also had customers  ship me  OS  LAs  that are  new in box  with the old  3  port sleeve.
So I would still  suggest if anyone is buying one to get a  CL version, At least  you will have  a  venturie that is  usable.

Regards
Randy

Hi Terry

Yes many people run them in a  4-2  , however they do not sound like a FOX 35.
