Hi guys,
Help me think this through--I have two NIB Webra blackhead .61s. Bought them a long time ago for near nothing and have been wondering if they might be converted to CLPA use.
They have baffle piston with one ring, twin ball bearings, muffler lugs and weigh about 13 oz. (My friend's Fox .59 weighs 12.25 oz. without a muffler.)
IIRC, these were considered to be "torquers" in their day. I wouldn't consider using them if I didn't already have them.
Any one ever tried this engine for CLPA?
Thanks,
Jim

Hi Jim,
The "Blackhead" 28 and 32 (don't know exactly that they are the same series) have been used in CLPA. They did have to have porting and head mods. I still have the 28 that Bob Hunt used in his Tucker Special to start off with. Very strong, but "run aways" if not "modded".

Hi Jim
The Webra 61s you are referring to are HIgh timed RC engine, They have lower pipe timing like other brands of RC aerobatic engines. This and the weight would put most anyone off from using them as C\L stunt engines, but If your going to try use a lower pitch prop such as a 13 1\2 x 4 or 4 1\2 pitch. low nitro 5% and get some head shims for trimming.
I would use a 280 size venturie, and a tank plumbed uniflow
