Title: Visible Prop tips
Post by: t michael jennings on June 02, 2008, 08:03:47 PM
Gentlemen,

My props are either the grey Graupner or the grey APC props.  Before using them, I paint the outer 3/4 inch tips  with yellow paint.

With the engine running 8-10,000 RPM, the yellow tips are not visible.

What is the best method to make the prop tips visible with the engine running?

If yellow doesn't work, I don't know.  Master Airscrew uses white tips, about one inch of  each tip.

How much of the tip are you painting yellow?

Cheers,
Jim

They should be visible - depending on the light.  I was using the black reinforced plastic Master Airscrew props on an RC trainer and painted 3/4" of the tips yellow.  On a cloudy day they *are* hard to see but with the sun behind you they show up very well.

A while back I did a safety article for the pampa magazine. I painted the tips of a black Master Airscrew with an irridescent orange paint.
Day-Glow as I recall.

Very visible in just about any light condition.

Ted paints them Shareen's favorite nail polish color, even if it clashes with the color scheme of his precious Nobler.  LL~ Steve
