I made this venturi by drilling a piece of aluminum and flaring the top, I'm sure it's been debated here but will a straight through venturi work for stunt?

Yes, it will work perfectly IMHO.

Even not theoretically optimum, the spraybar reduces the venturi area in your configuration, increasing the gases speed, so creating the suction needed.

My Stalker-Modusa SE plain bearing engines (35.42.46) all perform straight "venturis" and they run like a dream.

Nice Merco, BTW. I had success with 7 - 7,5 mm dia venturis in the 35s.

   Almost certainly. The classic venturi shape from a textbook (which Randy calls a "true" venturi) is not required to function, particularly in stunt, where flow loss from inefficient shapes is essentially unimportant, and reliable atomization and consistent flow is critical.

   You might get slightly less power for a given amount of fuel draw, but that probably doesn't matter, as long as we are running them far below peak anyway.
