I have the opportunity to pick up a used Torpedo .19 greenhead engine. Actually it looks to be unused.
Is this a decent stunt engine? I don't need competition quality as I don't compete. Just want to get opinions on the running and reliability of this engine.
What vintage is it anyway?

It is a good engine. Likes LOTS of castor oil and not too much nitro in the fuel (about like the fox engines).
It likes to run in the rich two needle setting rather than the 4-2-4 break . It is a stronger engine than the Fox 19 (three bolt backplate version) of the same era.
Good sport engine.

Torp 19 is a good engine. I had one I sport flew a lot. It was also the top class A speed engine at the time. I'd agree with Marvin on fuel. Try an 9 x 5 prop.
