Mystery Engine - Help???
« on: July 30, 2007, 09:28:28 PM »
Don't know what it is; no clue. Hard to see, but there's an "LD" and a set of "Pilot's Wings" on the cylinder base. Homemade diesel"?? One photo has a ruler drawn for size reference . . .

It's a Mite Diesel (compression ignition).

Yep, Bob, I checked the American Model Engine Encyclopedia and this thing looks very much like a "Mite" Diesel, .099. from 1947. Thanks for the quick answer!

Ralph - check out that little gadget under the crankcase - it's an air bleed valve.  n~ n~ n~

If you get the engine running (  ~^ ) and it runs badly, you can adjust the valve and it will run worse!!  LL~ LL~

They also made a glow version. I have both but I've never run them.
