Is anyone familiar with the Evolution engines ? I've been checking them out and they look good but are they any good ? Been checking out the Evolution 36cl, I'm Impressed with the AbC (aluminum-brass-chrome) cylinder construction.

Tommy, they are great! Just remember these newer ones are not equal to an old 35 or 36. It's more like an old 45 in power. Maybe more. Put that in a voodoo with an apc 8x8 prop. It'll spin you around for sure!

Thanks Dane, The Fox 35 is going on the Voodoo and I was considering the 36cl for a future Ringmaster build, Since you like the 36cl I'll go ahead and get one.
Thanks again, Tommy

That might be a little too much for a ringmaster. I fly mine with a .21 and another ringmaster with a .20 four stroke
I'll also make note that my ringmaster with a .21 is a K&B 3.5 so it too is WAY too much. But it's real fun to fly!

Yep, way too much engine for the lowly Ringmaster. Now in a Ringmaster Imperial it might be good. Mine is on the front of an ARF Nobler and is too much power. Guess that is why I'm using 11-4 props on it to slow it down.

Exactly. Too much. Now Tommy, if you want a ringmaster engine, check out the .18 and Veco .19 here

Build it light, and this would be perfect!
You should still pick up the .36 if you can. There's plenty of stuff that can be a great choice for

Pat Johnston kits a RingMaster 526. I had asked on Brotherhood of the Ring about the Evo .36 and got several suggestions even from Pat J that the RM 526 and the Evo would be a good fit together. Once I clear some of the current projects off the board that build is planned for this spring

We had a Ringmaster ARF with the K&B .18 attend the Ring-a-thon in October. I noticed the owner had that same K&B .18 for sale at our December Swap Meet. Seems to me like it didn't start well at all, and is very much a high-rev sort of engine. There may have been additional grievances. n1 Steve

Come on Steve! You know I like 'em fast!
But the veco 19 is a sweet set up on a ringmaster

Couple guys had K&B 18's where I use to fly. Word was they were poorly fit and had solid bronze con rod basically no power or mileage.

Of these two I would go for the Veco .19. We had one of the K&B .18's and it couldn't get out of its own way. The Veco will run circles around it.

I agree, the veco has always been amazing.
I wanted to buy the .18 and pull it apart. See if there's anything that can be done. But it's the same price as an already known good working engine! They should have priced it lower

Anybody have experience with MECOA produced Veco .19bb's? I seem to recall them being ABC in recent years. But if MECOA can't make the K&B .18 parts fit well, why would they be able to do so with the Veco? Sounds like they need a better hone operator. y1 Steve
