This is one of the sharpest looking engines I've ever seen

Going through some "stuff" this past weekend, I came across this.
Neat looking or what?

I think it's a Taifun Raisant or something like that.

Anyone know anything about it?

Check your AHC ads circa '55 - '57. The Taifun was a regular listing back then, I think usually for around $9, back when $9 was 3-weeks allowance!!!

I'm a bit of a Taifun nut, so I'll throw my 2 cents in.  Bob's engine picture is of a Taifun 'Blizzard'.  I posted a pic where the label is visible.  I also posted a pic of the Rassant 2 (the one with the 'tea-pot spout' venturi).  The colors on this Rassant are quite dramatic, so it is either NIB or refinished.  The Taifun colors tended to fade.

At present, I have a Hobby (1cc), 2 Hurrikans (1.5cc) and a Rassant 2 (2.5cc).  The Hurrikan and the Blizzard are reed-valve induction.

Fred - you are correct on that call.

Last weekend, I sorted through around 300 engines, approximately 50 of which were C.I. (Diesels).
Things became a bit foggy after the first 200 or so!  n~ n~ n~

I do remember finding a number of Taifuns, one of which was the Raisant. I also found a new Hobby.

There were also some inline and opposed C.I twins, some of which I could not identify. Many water cooled.

If anyone is interested, I will post more pictures. If not, I won't bore anyone with this worthless  old stuff (!!!???!!!).   ;) ;) ;)

Definitely not worthless!  I'm always interested in this kind of stuff and I'm sure a lot of others are also.

Definitely post  the pictures, many people love seeing rare or unusual motors, and those that don't can skip over them  ;D

    You know I can't get enough of your pictures, it gives me something to look forward to. Sometimes I have one sometimes I don"t. The "Yellow Jacket .61" was a prime example. That was a "RARE" find. Keep them comming please.

I have a Taifun Tornado in my collection. The cyl. and spinner nut are anodized what looks to be a rasberry color. I have never run it, but it looks to be in fairly good shape.

  I could be wrong but the first one looks like a "SPEED DEMON DIESEL" .296 cu. in. circa 1947 by "Eastern Model Engineering-Long Island N.Y.

Just my guess but it appears to be larger than .296 C.I.D.
There is a three-digit serial number on the back but no other markings of any kind.

In fact, NONE of these last posted engines have any markings.  ??? ???
