Hello,
I recently acquired a new S.T. c/l .51 and would like to replace the stock muffler with something better and, certainly, lighter.
I've checked Tower for a Mac's muffler for it but don't see anything listed for the S.T. 51.
I'm not interested in tuned pipe or tongue muffler. Anyone have any suggestions or know of a source for a muffler for this thing?
Thanks,
Joe

Richard Oliver has one that fits...well almost. You might need to drill out the engine holes very slightly. Mine has worked well for 3 years now.

I had Scott Dinger make a tube muffler for mine. I don't know his email off hand but someone should be able to help with this.

Scott Dinger's email is: hyflo@dslextreme.com - - Some of the most beautiful aluminum welding I've ever seen! His tube mufflers usually weigh around 7/8 ounce.

The ST G51 uses the exact same muffler as the ST 46 and V60. There are plenty of tongue and lightweight tube mufflers out there available from Randy Smith @ Aero Products, Tom LAy @ T&L, RSM, Brodak, Tom Dixon, Stuka Stunt Works, Big Art Adimisin, Windy Urtnowski, and most C/L Hobby Shops. It has been a common muffler for over 20 years.

I have 2 ST G.51's - each has a tube muffler - one from Scott (Hyflo) and one from
Randy (Aero) - both are excellent, quiet and light. Hard to choose, kind of like which is
better, a Honda or a Toyota - both are excellent vehicles. If I had to choose, the Aero
Products tube muffller has the edge in quality and smooth quiet tone. But you can't go wrong with either one. Note: stick with a TUBE muffler vs a tongue muffler. Just my
opinion.

I have flown several Super Tigre G-51 for the last 8-10 years and found the Brodak/Adamisin excellent for the motor. I have tried several tongue muffles from several manufacturers and found that the Gi51 just likes the tube muffler much better. I dont think you can go wrong with a tube muffler from most of the sources mentioned here.

I have two 51's and use hyflomuffler from Scott Dinger, they are excellent. The tongue muffler is too restictive for the 51 according to Tom Lay. Just me. y1 Ron.

HI Ron,
I used a tongue muffler I got from Windy back in '93 on my T&L 51. I have not been able to get another one like that, and it was the only tongue that worked for me. I use Scott Dinger and Randy Smith tubes now. Both are great.

I have been using a toung muffler on my ST .51 since I got it new from Tom Lay in
1997. I have found that since the toung muffler is so restrictive that drilling out every
other hole slightly has freed it up enough to run just fine. It does make it slightly louder
but still in the decible range that is acceptable. y1 <=
