Has anyone ever seen or heard of steam cleaning engines?
I was visiting the hospital for treatment the other day and happened to see one of the maintenance people using a steam unit with a wand to clean the floor. It seamed to clean the grout between the tiles pretty handily. Doesn't require chemicals either.
I seem to remember a home cleaning appliance shown on TV while surfing between channels. It was a small hand held unit and seemed to melt the gunk off an oven pretty handily.
Now I don't believe everything I see advertised on TV, but was wondering if anyone here is familiar with one of these small units and could liberate it from the wife and try it on a gunked up engine. If it could melt the varnish of of say a Fox 35 that has been used with the proper fuel for a number of years it could probably clean most anything. :)
PS One of these might also prove useful for de warping, removing dents, soften epoxy and etc. AP^

Tom, you peaked my interest. My wife has one of these little steam things that she uses to clean grout lines. I borrowed it to see if it would work on a grungy old Fox .35 I have.... it didn't touch the burned on castor. When you think about it, the steam coming out is probably around 200 deg. F. and the castor was crosslinked at probably 400 to 600 deg. F.. Anyway it didn't do a thing.

Thanks for the reply Dick. I have a lot of time on my hands lately and perhaps thats why I keep coming up with dumb thoughts. ;D You probably save me at least 20 - 30 dollars on something I don't need.

I know Frank Carlisle used his wifes small steamer to De-warp the flaps on his LA Heat.
