I've just purcghase an NIB  2 or 3 year old Stalker 61 RE 4-2 ABC (not the Lite) from a friend who found it surplus to his needs. He originally purchased it from Brian Gardner.

There is no paperwork what so ever with this motor, so can anyone recommend run in fuel,  run in prop and the procedure for running in.

I guess I could also check with Kaz Minato as I believe he is the world wide agent for Stalker

Myself and another club member are running Stalkers. Use 5 to 10% all synthetic with at least 20% oil. I am running a 13 X 5 1/4 3 blade but Bryon (the other club member) is getting excellent results with a Master Airscrew 12-7 3 blade (I think it's a 12-7, they only make a couple 3 blade props and the one you want will be pretty obvious).

I am running a 7.6 mm (.299) venturi with the stock needle in a 64 ounce Legacy, not sure what Bryon is running. If you have the aluminum muffler, heat it up with a torch or good heat gun to soften the JB weld, take it apart, remove the baffles and JB weld it back together.

Hope this helps, good engines. Something you might want to check especially if it has been ran on Castor, make sure the rod isn't glued to the wrist pin. You will damage the piston if it is and you try to run the engine without freeing it first. Be sure to use after run oil....

Chulan Weresingh was the sole Stalker dealer for quite a while.  He is still maintaining a website as he is selling off his remaining stock.  He has recomended running instructions on his website.  I have also attached them as a pdf.

Chulan Weresingh was the sole Stalker dealer for quite a while.  He is still maintaining a website as he is selling off his remaining stock.  He has recomended running instructions on his website.  I have also attached them as a pdf.

Hi Fred,

We found that Chulan was a great supporter of the Stalker engines.  I never knew why he "shut down".  ???  ???

I've been running Stalkers for a few years now.I've always followed the instructions from Chulan, and mine have run right out of the  box. You can run them differently, some do, but I like to mount them to the test stand, then right to the plane, and go fly.

My older Stalker .61RE, (Blue anodised  head and venturii,) Has been hgauling my Legacy around for about 6 plus years now. I run it on Magnum, (out of Colorado) fuel, straight FAI, no nitro, no castor. I believe the oil content is about 17 or 18%. I've used several props, but the best for my combination, has been an APC 12 x 6.

I'm currently running a Stalker .40RE in my VSC entry, a 51 oz All American Eagle, with the same fuel, and a Grish Tornado 10 x 6 three blade prop. (the engine loves this prop.)

I ran my all my stalkers on 22 % oil, 1/2 1/2 mixture 10 % Nitro and 12 x 7 Eather 2B UBT

Seems to work.

  Hi PJ, I remember watching & listening to you fly in Muncie a few years back. Your stuff sounded good. Can you tell me how the Stalker acts in the wind? Dumb question but I haven't had wind here in the Great North West when I have my Stalkers out. I'm thinking of moving to the Stalker Power System.

Like all engines John it will depend on setup. Anyone running the bigger displacements (like the 76) may find you need to drop the oil content down to 18% though.

Getting a good wind setup with any engine is just the same as normal air.

My preferred setup was a deeper 4 cycle, higher pitch, more oil that perhaps standard is mentioned.

All work well, I just find sound to be a good indicator of engine performance.

I ran almost all the stalkers at one point, The .76 is a fine workhorse. All the power of the .81 with less weight and less hassle .
