STALKER 46SE SETUP & BREAK-IN
« on: November 02, 2009, 12:09:16 PM »
My Stalker 46SE arrived today..sans any instructions.....before I screw it up,  I like to hear from some of you Stalkee's out there on the best break-in prop and plug combination, and break-in method. I already have a gallon of FAI fuel  on tap and just dying to start 'er up.

Congrats Phil on your new engine.

I've always broke my Stalkers in on the same prop length I planned on using, but I would drop to a slightly lower pitch for the first few runs.

I'd suggest a 10 or 11 inch prop with a 5 pitch. The idea is to run the engine long enough, with out loading the engine too much. After a half dozen 2 minute runs, with a cooling period between runs, you can mount it up, and go to your running prop. The engine is still breaking in, so go easy for the first few flights. You do not want to go too lean too soon. I galled a rod on a .51 that way.

I use FAI fuel with ~18% oil, about 5% of that oil being castor these days.

You'll know when the engine is ready, as the runs will become dead reliable, and the fuel usage will stabilize, running the same amount of time with the same fuel load.

Phil,
Just sent you a e-mail with some instructions.  Sorry as I thought I had sent them to you a few weeks ago,
