I started to bench run my ST G-51 today. As per the instructions I got a 11-6 prop (T/F) my prop reamer doesn't make a whole the same size as the ST uses, it is just a little larger. I think I heard somewhere using a drill is a no no,so what do you use to make the whole fit or do you bush the prop? If so what with? Thanks

Use a Fox metric prop reamer. The section behind the threaded area is 7MM. Hence if you are using a Tru-Turn spinner assembly you need to use a 7MM bushing.

I only reamed out the back side of the prop enough to fit the propeller over the hump. This left enough of the front section of the hub to center on the therads.
If that doesn't work for you, get a metric reamer like wayne said! y1 ;D

I first bought a step reamer, but didn't like it. Some guy named Scott Riece recommended a traditional tapered hand reamer, which I like a lot better. It takes a few seconds to cut & test, then cut & test again, but after a little experience, it's not a problem. The fit is better and one tool does it all. :D Steve

I think that you've got way too much pitch for that engine.....most have good luck with 11 and 11.5 X 4 APCs...
Top Flite writes their instructions with r/c types in mind....

Thanks Rich: I was just going by Super Tigres break in procedures, but as you say it's for R/C they don't mention C/L.

Mine always likes a Rev Up 12-5 Govt. Surplus prop. y1
I start with one of those everytime I put the ST 51 in a new plane. x:

Is there a source of the surplus Rev-Up 12x5?
Thanks,

Hi Jim,
They pop up on ebay from time to time. My "local" Hobby Shop (about an hour away in Fyetteville-near Pope AFB) had a supply of them several years ago. They were used on foam R/C drones, IIRC.

I just bought 2 packages of these off the bay a few weeks ago. Price was reasonable and you just cant beat the brand can you..
Bill is right this is a great prop for the ST51.
