Yesterday I picked up a Super Tigre .51. It has no ears to mount a muffler and has CHROMED molded into the crankcase below the mounting lugs. It has an RC carb on it. It is a ringed engine and compression is super. This moter was made pre Chinese.
My only Super Tigre engine experience was with the older G21 35s with the perry porting about 35 or so years ago. This 51 has what appears to be the same type of mounting for either a carburator or venturi. As my old ones had the venturi held on by the VA I had no problem irh changing to the wide or narrow venturi. On this one the carb is held in place by what appears to be a brass pin of some sort where the NVA would go for a C/L setup with the venturi. My question, finally, how do I get the brass pin out so I can mount the NVA?
In case my discription of the engine sucks to bad I can upload a picture later if necessary.
I've read other posts about super Tiger engines but was never sure which one/ones were being talked about.
Thanks for any help. n~

Tom,
Thats the older "V" series ST that was made as a 51,56 and 60. Randy, etc , or a whole host of other guys will probably be able to tell you how to take it apart.
Just don't run the thing at the field without a muffler; you'd blow Tate's ears off!!!

What Steve said as to identification. The pin comes out to one side IIRC. Some pressure down on the carb is also needed to get the keeper out.

The keeper has a half moon cut-out on the side that holds the carb in. You have to take the carb out before you can get the keeper out.

It's just like the .60, but I haven't had to change a venturi on one in a few decades. :)

As Bob said above. Loosen the nut and then give it a slight tap to loosen the pin. Pull the carb out and then the pin will slide right out.

If the keeper has a hex head one side of the venturi and a nut the other, the keeper will have to come out first. If there is a nut one side only, you will have to slacken the nut and take the venturi out first. If its been done up real tight you may have to be a bit firm with this. All this assumes we are talking factory parts.

Another thing I noticed on this engine is it looks like metal was ground off near the center ov the V on the baffle side and a 51 stamped on much like the 25 in my '54 Fox. I was wondering if the cylinder and piston and or con rod can be change to increase the engine size to .56 or .60 ???
I did figure out how to remove the Carb. #^

The V51, V56 and V60 all used the same case during that time frame. I have no clue as to which parts were common to which engines. I would guess that the crankshaft would have worked for two of them, but I couldn't say which two.
