Title: Silicon joining tube clamps.
Post by: Chris Wilson on May 06, 2012, 09:19:24 PM
Might seem like a silly question but what do fliers use to clamp or tie down their silicon tubing that joins the exhaust stub to the pipe?

Is a cable tie heat proof enough? Or is a spring steel radiator style clamp needed?

Or indeed some other method? Is it even needed?

Thanks.

Hi Chris

MOst use 2 cable ties on each side of the  connection, 2 on the pipe, 2 on the header

Thanks for getting back to me Randy, cable ties it is then - I was just worried about the heat at the engine end but I guess that the thickness of the silicon is enough to prevent heat transfer.

Cheers.
