I had to buy a new tach and also found this at my L(R/C)HS.
I can't find any info on this baffled, plain bearing version - note shiny head, even shinier backplate and no exhaust baffle.
When was this produced?
Any good for stunt?
If so, is there a replacement nva that'll fit in place of the dual-needle assembly?

Add: further searching found a post saying the c/l version also said ".25 R/C" on the case - maybe it's early c/l with the r/c carb installed?

Near as I can tell by my "Andersen's Engine Bible" it's a 1972 version. But, was unavailable until '73. Also it was based on the 19 case and was supposed to be an economical (cheap) engine...........According to AEB.

My 19s I set the head clearance at 6 or 7 thou. for twins , and mixnmatch with the 25's . 9 x 4 props or narrow blade 10 x 4s ( Gorrie Mi T )
or za zinger 9 x 5s on the 25s paired .

The Later 25 seems moe likeable / rortier .
thems scepter flight site ripoffs , might be the early 25s & 19s there too .

15 or 20 % Nitro gives them a wake up call . can be a bit feeble on 5 % , or stright Methanol - Castor . 

The Fox Needles a bit of a joke. but works. Six or Seven turns Out. ( the control line one ) .

The LINER is UNHARDENED so good oil , 23% or mores a good idea .
ugly little mufflers dont slowem down a lot ( 35 Muffler Fit ) .

HYMPH .Scepter dont have the TESTS for the 72 odd version . Peter Chin , was in Aeromuddler And the U.S. Mags

It looks to be already run (some dirt on it)? Do you now own it? 

This Fox .25 would not be a bad sport engine...Flite Streak, Veco Warrior, Ringmaster, etc. Fox should be able to sell you a CL venturi for it...avoid buying the NV assy if possible, and put in a Randy Smith NV Assy, ST, or ST Clone, in that order of preference. It should run a 2-2-2 type of run on something like the APC 9.5 x 4.5...not a LHS stock item, but it should be a prop worth trying.

If you use appropriate fuel (25%+ oil, mostly or all castor), it should outlast several McCoy readheads. Fox always seemed to use meehanite  cast iron for the pistons and leadloy for the cylinders on all of their lapped piston engines, so metallurgy is pretty much the same as a .35 Stunt. As with most Fox engines, vibration may be "noticeable"!

That .25 is the engine we used on my son Aaron's first "big" plane.  It was a TF kit Flite Streak.  It flew it really well and ran good for us when we set it just above a 4 cycle.  Kinda a real wet 2! LOL!!  I did have to buy two new crank cases for it.  Two crashes, two broken cases and all over grass.  All the cases had "R/C" on them and ours came with a venturi.  Still have the engine and would use it again for something along the lines of the Flite Streak.  Ran Fox Superfuel in it, but can't remember the exact prop.  I think we used a BY-O 10-5  (which was more like a 4 1/2).  Not sure. 58' eye to eye .015 and about a 4.9-5.0 lap time.  He got through all the maneuvers and inverted with that plane and we still have it!
