Some of you guys have posted that the mileage gets better with run time. I have a PA 61 that I struggle to get the pattern finished on 6 ounces fuel, maybe 30 to 40 flights so far. How much run time will it take untill the mileage increase will be noticed?
Thanks,
James #^

Hi James,
Wish I could give you a good solid answer, but I can't.....
I guess a lot depends on what part of the country you're in , or more so what the density altitude is. I sometimes pull fuel out of our PA 61s using a 6 oz. tank. (??) We have three of them, with a good bit of time on them, but no where near being used up. NC, 300-600 feet ABSL, usually we have high humidity and fairly hot...... even with 10% nitro, 6 oz. has always been plenty.

Bill,
I live in Missouri and have been running 10%. Not sure what venturi size (whatever Randy put in it when I got it from him). Power has not been an issue.
Thank,
James

Hi James
This time of year we run 5% nitro, power should be no issue with 5% fuel in the spring, or you may want to try that or just put in a bigger fuel tank

Beeing no expert at all but i have noticed the following on my PA .61:
NB: It is a SE run with muffler. We fly the FAI program = 7 Min .
I fill 130 ml = 4.396 oz. 5% nitro 20 % oil Apr. sea level and 15-20 degrees Celsius 13x5.25 wood prop.
The run is 4 stroke breaking to rich 2 in maneuvers.
This gives 6 1/2 min runs on average..
I notice that run time increases on leaner and decreases on richer settings.
The pattern usually takes 5 1/2 min.
It uses less fuel now than when new, but i have put in one extra shim and gone from 10 to 5% nitro since then.
One more comment:
Using a 6OZ tank.. have you checked that you actually fill 6 OZ for each flight..?
That is: Is the tank absolutely emty after the run.. ?
