Title: Royal 28
Post by: Leester on June 03, 2007, 10:03:13 AM
I recently bought what was listed as a Royal 28. I received it and there is nothing on it that says Royal, the engne size is stamped on the bottom of the lug mounts. There is a spot on the side that looks like it might have had a plate glued on. Can anyone for sure identify this ? If it indead is a Royal (not doubting the seller just want to be sure) what fuel is best, and what type of run should I expect ? It is also said to be reworked by Dixon ( Tom ?).  Thanks

It certainly LOOKS like the older Royal engines.  Kind of a cross between an OS and "something".  The "carb hold down" is what gives it away.

If it's been "rewroked", how it will run is a guessing game.......  Back in the day, "reworking" one of these meant to get it to run in a 4-2.  It all depends on who reworked it.

Sure is a pretty engine.  Like an old Supertiger.
