Evo 36 4-2 break
« on: August 31, 2010, 06:42:02 PM »
Guys,
Does the Evo 36 have a 4-2 break similar to a Fox 35 or B40?
I'm looking for a motor for my new Oriental. I have a LA 46, but that may be a little too much. Another Saito 40 is $$. B40s are impossible to find (say wasn't Groucho the prime minister of Moldavia?? Or was it the Dutchy of Grand Fenwick).
Just looking at all the options.

Mike

Hi Mike,

The 46LA is not too much engine. It will work just fine in the Oriental. As matter of fact this engine is probably the most used with the Oriental and  Nobler these days.

I would use an Enya 30SS  or  40 XZS in the Oriental

Hey Mike. I settled on the middle size vent with the remote nv and 10% Cool Power with an 11x5 MA and the Evolution plug. I would look to Leo Mehl. He has been flying one for a couple years in a Nobler. I think he went with the large vent and put a needle valve through it. You just have to remove the jet drill through the other side of the insert.

Another Piece that works well is to use an OS RC carb NVA and screw it into the side of the middle or small venturie, use sealant and it work better for the several I have done for people than the  rear setup, plus you can also angle it toward the rear.
I have sold and setup about 10 of these and guys seem to be happy with them

This is a really good tip. I found that the engine with the remote valve had "burpitis" at the end of the run because (I think) the valve adapter had a volume that didn't empty cleanly and it would take a couple laps to finally clean out and let the engine die.

Dave,
Did that result in a clean 4-2 break?

Thanks guys,
BTW there really is a world of difference between RC and CL. Reading these forums has saved me a lot of trial and error.

Both setups did. I ended up using 15% on thin air days. Hey Leo are you there???

"Another Piece that works well is to use an OS RC carb NVA and screw it into the side of the middle or small venturie"

Are you doing anything else to the EVO .36?

Hi Tom  Yes In mine and a couple of people that wanted them I put in much better bearings and sealed front ones, I also fit the engines.
However most people just buy them from me  stock and buy the  Front Needle

Do you have an OS part number for this NVA?

Thanks Bill,
Already got mine.
I assume the castle plumbing is being upgraded.
