Title: Resurected engine.
Post by: Perry Rose on August 19, 2021, 01:49:55 PM
I was given an Evolution .52 set up for c/l. It had been flooded and stored in oil for a while. I fired it up on the test stand and then flew it in my Ringmaster Excel. It ran well in the air but by now the oil had been flushed out and the bearings started to make a bit of noise. A call to Boca Bearings got me the right ones. As I was waiting for the bearings I found a new crankcase on the Horizon Hobby site and bought that. It came in today and I installed new bearings and all the other stuff from the original engine. I fired it up on the test stand and installed it in the Ringmaster. I should get in a flight or two in the morning. The good thing about the Evo 52 is that it's the same crankcase as the Evo .60 c/l engine. It better run well or out it goes and in with a .60. Just an idle threat, the .52 pulls the plane very well.
