Enya 35 what model is it
« on: September 16, 2010, 08:06:34 PM »
Picked up a 35 for cheep and new in box. The box say .35-B111,the motor says 5225. It came with 2 venture and a extra Head. 7.5 in the motor, and 7 & 8 in the box. Could this be a 35V with B111 parts.

The next thing I heard is that the V motor is not Hand Lapped, Would the break-in Be different? What fuel should be use 5/29?

What Head and venture should be used?

There looks like there is marks to drill and tap for a muffler, and does Randy make one for this motor?

Never had a Enya UC motor so I need a lot of Help.  Thanks Steve

Steve,

? New in box? - if so the engine may need a longish break-in, I prefer on a test stand. Use oil at least 20% castor. 5/29 would be safe for the very first runs. After that, if there's no problem, 5/25 should do well.

? two venturii? Inserts, I guess. Are they rectangular or round? Black plastic or metal? (ENYA sold square intake 52xx series engine with total of three venturii inserts and total of two heads...) The black plastic squarish inserts were numbered (Arabic) 1, 2, 3. The 7, 7.5 and 8 on yours might be the hole diameter in mm, or just numbers to tell them apart in the parts list. For fuel draw, use the smallest. For more power, the middle one, and for max power, with quite a bit less fuel draw, the biggest.

? V-series NOT hand lapped? Got me there. I thought ALL engine cyl/piston sets were hand-lapped. ENYA has a very nice site in Japan, you can get it in English as well. Might find an answer there. Mr ENYA has a lot of support parts going WAY back...

?B111? I've always read ENYA series numbers as Roman, so that would translate to a B-III for B-3.

ENYA engines usually don't run nicely in 4/2 mode, but do great in wet-2 all 2-cycling. Some ENYAs DO run a great 4/2, but I don't know of that including the 29-III or 35-III or -IV.

Decent power! Last forever if not toad-a-ly butchered.

There must be more other ENYA users who can can add to this. C'mon in!

It sounds like a bit of "mix and match" going on here :). The series III (model 5224) had the rectangular intake with 3 plastic venturis and the two cylinder heads while the III-B had a round intake with 3 alloy venturis and still 2 cylinder heads. The 35-V (model 5225) had "bumps" on the squared off rear, as though it could be machined for a removeable backplate, and only one cylinder head now using a shim to alter compression. Model 5224 heads had 7 fins while the 5225 had 6 fins.

Enya had a habit of doing a "mix and "match" when there was a change in model number to use up most of their spare parts. I know of at least one case where an Enya 60 used a 60-III crankcase but 60-IIIB internals.

Hi Steve

I would suggest breaking it in with the lower compression head and putting on a stuntship
I do have mufflers for the Enya, and I have in stock the Enya muffler that works for the ones without muffler ears
Measure the holes, or dimples where you can drill for a muffler, If it is 1.25 inch strap on works well, If it is 1.380 inch I have both tongue and tubes for it

The Enya 5 model wasn't fit so tightly as it's predecessors. It will run in a little faster but take care on running it in just the same. AAll of the enya's like castor oil and I wouldn't go below 25% when broken in. Only the 4 series had square venturis and that was replaced toward the end of that series run with the current round one.
They made a nice BB 29/35 version in the five series, also the 4's if my 29 is a true example.

They also made them in plain bearing and ball bearing, I would use a mix of castor,Synth in the fuel with total of at least 25% total oil content
