Title: Rear exhaust engines don't *HAVE* to hook up to piped systems, right?
Post by: Just One-eye on July 22, 2008, 03:14:32 PM
In one trade or another a few years ago, I ended up with one NIB OPS 40, and another with a few runs on it, as well as the equivalent pair of OS 40 VF engines.  I was looking at the new OPS today, and it's much lighter than either an OS 40 FSR, or an OS 40 SF (I didn't look for a VF to compare that).  There is no needle valve in this one, and the venturi is a delrin part with a very small intake opening.  If it's got an annular sprinkler fuel feed system, I can't see the holes (and the venturi is very tightly fitted, so I haven't had it out that I recall).

Anyone out there know whether I can use it in a more casual (than full-on "piped") application?  Were there either more ordinary mufflers, or perhaps manifolds to redirect the exhaust to a more convenient location for a "remote" expansion chamber?  I'd kinda like to try it on a profile . .

The answer  is  yes  on the  OS VF  engines  and  on  "LOW TIMED"  OPS engines, as well as most all other  RE  low timed  stunt  engines, I have setup many of these and have  both header mufflers and  a  slide on  tube muffler  for  RE engines.
