Title: r/c conversions
Post by: Steve Kientz on June 30, 2007, 11:37:13 AM
I have several GMS engines I would like to convert to venturis. Is it possible to make my own venturis without a lathe? Is it easier to send the dimensions to someone who has experience and equipment to do this?

HI Steve

Unless you find some other motor that is the same size it will be  very hard to nake venturies for these without a lathe.
You can check around and see  if some of the other  engines out there have the same  size diminsions

Most will probably want the engine in hand, to fit the venturi to. Trusting others to make precise measurements can be a frustrating and costly way to do business. I'm pretty fussy about how tight the venturi inserts fit...not too tight, not too loose. I want them to push in, but I don't want them to be destroyed trying to get them back out. Our local combat guys make venturi's for Magnum .36's out of hardware store stock "spacers" from the parts bins at the ACE hardware, with a drill press. They work, it seems, tho maybe better on bladder tanks than suction.  Hope this helps.  H^^ Steve

What about sending the R/C carb instead of the engine? The od would be the same, would assume there is a suitable "range" for the id of a particular size?

Thanks
