Has anyone tried to use an R/c car engine in an airplane? they seem to have good output, but with the short shaft was wonderring if anyone had fooled with them?

The racers do....they are powerhouses....
Stunt guys don't need that kind of power.....

That power in the RC car engines comes at very high rpms. 20,000 plus. Akin to combat engines but much heavier.

Most RC car engines have pipe timing and are pretty much useless for open faced control line racing events

I have converted a TT .12 engine to aircraft use with a sprinkler venturi. It turns up 18K on a MAS 7x4. It will never turn up to 29K with a prop. The prop is a higher rotating mass than a flywheel. It is a hoot in a Jr Satan Combat wing.
