Picked up a RC Super Tigre 51
« on: August 23, 2017, 01:44:53 PM »
I did a search and did not get any useful info.

Are folks putting on a Venturi and needle and running them stock?

I was told there is a CL P&L but can seem to locate them.

Tower Hobbies was the distributor for StuperTigre engines. After they moved to China, they seemed to have run out of parts. I don't think there is anything available right now for the ST.51 but there were lots of them sold and still out there. There is a difference between the R/C liner and the C/L liner. WHen I get a chance, (may be the weekend) I'll get a new in box one out and look up the part number, You can do a search on here for posts made by me and find my set up, which is basically stock, with an extra head shim, hot plug, expansion type (Scott Dinger) muffler,  prop in the 12" by 4" pitch range, SIG Champion 10% fuel with a bit extra castor added for the ring.. I got a bunch of stuff to do tonight and may not get back here, but at a minimum, email me a phone number to call you at and I can tell you faster than I can type!
   Type at you later,

Mr smith  / Aeroproducts says the R.C. & C/L are both useable standard .

Ive got a intake that pretty much replicates the stock C/L one , but has the spray bar hole through the case , as most do to the 60 etc .

The Vertical C.G.  and cooling airflow - less obstructed with the tank closer to the bearers - being considerations .

Think Randy says they run better with the drilled case .

Drilling undersize & alighning a steel rod thru to a steel rod thru the cinch bolt hole , cross checking gap fwd and aft , and lateral alignment
a needle file to fine tune before final drill ream aligned .Unless its a Magnum 40 / 45 . The CINCH BOLT ISNT 90 Deg. Tangental on these .
If you align spray bar to cinch bolt its a few degrees of square on the FSR clone .  >:(

 Gotta G40 & 45  S T ive gotta cross drill .

Need some decent intakes .

I do ABC piston/liner/rod/pin sets that are stunt timed for them.

HI
both the  RC  and  CL  versions will  work,  the  cl version is a bit better,  I use a true venturi in ALL of them that I have done, and a PA  NVA,  I do  NOT drill thru the case,  just use  the hole behind the  venturi for the  spraybar
The 51 has a small crank  small counterweight, s the  ones  I have done are all balanced and blueprinted, with the RC version have re/angled ports.  I do a head mod that helps keep the run consistent.  and makes sure  the engine has a sealed front bearing.

The 51 works best with a 11.5 to 12.5 prop  at about 4.75 5. to  5.25  pitch ,
The ring works OK  but  I would use the  ABC  piston sleeve setup that  BRIAN   makes

For Matt...I plugged in a T&L G.51 (drilled case) in place of a stock-ish venturi setup, and didn't notice a needed change in tank height. This agrees with tests done by both Al Rabe and Ted Fancher; both reported that the spraybar location made zero difference. I also added a 1 oz sump to the bottom of a 6 oz tin tank (7 oz total) for my PA .51 and saw no need to adjust tank height. It's the engine itself, and nobody really seems to have a good reason for it. Please stop spreading old wives tales. We have proved that one is just not true!   H^^ Steve

For the last 2 production runs the shipped price was $130 Australian dollars. That's to USA with tracking. The optional head was $28 extra.

I'm currently taking names for the next run which will follow another run of LA46 and the HP40. So it may be close to the end of the year before I have more ST51 sets
