Title: OS46 LA vs OS 40LA
Post by: Lyle Spiegel on January 16, 2016, 06:55:20 AM
Can anyone tell me if PL assy for OS46LA can be installed in a case for OS 40 LA? I know that OS 40 FX case will work with 46 FX P& L
Thanks in advance. LYLE

No. The .46 is a larger diameter. That is why the .46 is a tad lighter than the .40, material has been removed to allow the larger cylinder liner. Remember, we are talking about displacement here, which involves both the stroke AND the bore. In order to get larger displacement, something has to get bigger. In the mater of the FX, the O.D. of the cylinder liner has to be the same, and bore smaller for the .40
   Type at you later,

The head bolt pattern is bigger on the .46LA than .40LA. If you were to bore out the case of a .40LA to fit a .46LA cylinder, you'd bore into the bolt holes, IIRC. I looked at some of this stuff. Also looked at dropping a Magnum XL .53 cylinder into a Tower .40. Not saying it couldn't be done, but not without welding on the case casting.  :-[  Steve
