The OS VF .25, .40, and .46 are all well-respected powerplants. What of the VF.61? Can it be made to run the same way?
-
Well I was totally ignored with an answer I gave in "the other" CL forum so we'll see what happens here. The 61VF has slightly higher port timings compared to the 40/46 VF's but I doubt it's enough to make much difference to the way the smaller ones run. Exhaust is 75 BBDC compared to 71 while the transfers are 62 compared to 60. There's a small difference in crankshaft timings too by a couple of degrees but nothing to write home about. My 61 weighs 18.9 ounces with exhaust stub and RC carb while the 46 is 12.8 ounces with stub and RC carb. I've only run mine on the bench so far but it handles beautifully with one flick starts hot or cold at full throttle on zero nitro fuel. Mine will end up in a stunter some time....

Brian,
I have several RC pattern type engines---some screamers and some strokers. Mostly NIB, with no game in town, at least not one I want to play.
I guess some of them can be made to work for CLPA---just not sure if its worth the effort for me. I need something that's pretty much a plug-and-play deal. For the experimenter type they could be lots of fun......
Cheers,
Jim

Hi Ralph,
I have never seen a VF 61, much less seen one used in CLPA, sorry. We did use the VF 40s for a long time, though. ;D

LOL!!!!!!!
I know they exist, I have just never seen one, personally. There are no R/C pattern fliers left around here that I know of, and I neve3r had a need for one........
