OS LA .40 hold down screws"
« on: May 01, 2012, 01:13:18 PM »
I dug up my OS LA .40 today, time to drill holes for the blind nuts.

I couldn't put a 6-32 bolt through the hole on the engine flange.

4-40? Is this what guys are using to hold them down?

Yes, I know there's four.

Thanks Mark!

Mark, back to the tank thing on The New American.

I cut the engine mounts to be able to adjust the tank up and down.

To slide it in, I would have to remove the upper part of the firewall, F1.

What about a removable tank hatch on top, are guys doing this?

The examples of models are endless that could have a hatch.

I know you know, so what say?

Making a removable hatch? It will weaken the structure of the nose, this makes it prone to vibration and failure,, as well as creating fuel foaming issues,, as well as making the most likely to be ugly part ( the separation line between the hatch and fuse) the most visible part right on top,, t, there are "modern" methods available for creating an engine crutch that resist these problems,,
