Needs very little break in, will continuously get better gas milage for a good while, use a 10-4 APC, set in a wet 2.  I owuldn't even think about trying to run a 4-2.  I also suggest the 2030 stock muffler.   The run is almost as good as a 20FP BBTU with more power.  Simple engine to run!

I have used this engine with great success on both the ARF Flite Streak and a stock Ringmaster. Run it just like Bill said, wet 2 stroke- so you can see a nice smoke trail while flying. It is smooth and quiet, starts easy and will pull either of the above listed planes with no problem. You will love it.

I've used a couple of these over the years and run them in the "West Coast FP20" fashion - 9 x 4 APC prop, 5% - 10% nitro, 22% - 25% oil with at least 25% of that castor, stock muffler, about 11,000 rpm launch speed and enjoy all day.

Best, Hoovie

Thanks Guys for the info on the FP. I bench ran the engine this morning, 9/6 prop 10% nitro 25% castor
easiest engine ever to start and run looks like a keeper. Just need to build something to hang it on.
                     Thanks again Bob Lindsay H^^

Bob: What type of plane do you have in mind ? Profile, built up fusalage ? There are lots of good 25 size planes around, let us know what you decide on and keep us posted.

HI Bob,

*Can* the 9-6 unless we're puttnig streamers on them! **)
That engine doesn't 4-2, but has a great wet 2 run.  4 pitch prop for flying.

Bill: Since you fly with a 9-4 usually, would you want a 8-4 for break in ?

To be honest, Lee, the FPs need basically no break in.  Well not much as we tend to think of it like a Fox 35!

The ones I've used, and Steve Fitton used, run the 10-4 APC.

The biggest thing I have seen is that as the engine gets more time, it burns less fuel.  With the ABN later FPs, (not the earliest iron piston ones) all I have done is run a tank on the ground to get familiar with it, and then fly!  Haven't been able to detect any longevity issues with the ABN set ups doing this.   OS sets them up, tolerance wise, so that the R/C crowd can take 'em out of the box and fly them without injury to the engines.

Bench running won't hurt, and I would probably use an 8-4 for it, but I never have found the need as long as it isn't set screaming lean on take off! ;D
